    Hot Topic customers beware
Michael bought me a couple of things from Hot Topic for Christmas. The figurine was broken (cheap shit) + for the wallet I had no use (knowing that it would probably fall apart in less than 3 months anyway).  We brought the receipt + tried to return the items. Yes, tried.  We were told that since the price tags are missing from the products, we only can get store credit. Getting older + less tolerant to corporate bullshit Michael + I told the clerk that we find the return policy unacceptable. We made it quite clear to the clerk that we understand  that she is just following company policy.  She nevertheless gave us an attitude. She obviously was annoyed when she had to redo the transaction because she failed to inform us  before that we can get our money back for the broken figurine.  We are not interested in getting store credit + unwillingly had to accept it for the wallet.

So, Hot Topic policy now says that when you give a gift you need to keep the price tag on the item in case it will be returned? How tacky is that?

I'll be damned if I ever spend money at Hot Topic + support this BS. The $20 store credit will be the last time they will ever see out of us.

People should be fucking ashamed of themselves

Wal-Mart worker dies after crowd rushes store
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27955316/

We too ventured out for a little, not because of the "tradition" of shopping, but because of what we thought was a good sale. Wasn't, so we went home. People are like fucking vacant zombies on this day. I think if anyone as much as shoved, elbowed, ran me over or something to this regard, I think I would get arrested for murder. I despise people that behave like starving vultures (my apologies to the birds because not even they would behave that badly). These people should be shot like rabid dogs.   Yes, I am a little angry right now.

Writer's Block: The Wrath of Ohrwurm

German has a word for everything, like ohrwurm. Translated literally as "earworm" in English, it's the word for songs that get stuck in your head and won't go away. What earworm of a song do you most dread burrowing into your head?

    Movies
A couple of days ago I watched "Cloverfield." HATED it. If the camera movement wasn't so jerky, I might have thought it was OK. Now they are talking about making a sequel?   Don't even bother.

Watched "The Orphanage." Really liked it. Only draw back was that the subtitles were difficult to read on the laptop. I filled some gaps reading up on wikipedia. Only thing.....I'm a bit confused when it came to the last couple of minutes?  Anyone seen the movie + could give me an idea what that was about?  If you are interested, I will share my opinion on what I think the ending was suppose to mean.

    From Earthjustice

I should have been shocked when I heard that the Bush administration has released another plan allowing Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana to kill nearly 1,000 wolves.

But I argued our case in Missoula during our last go-around with the administration, and I saw our opponents try to justify their unscientific and reckless proposal to remove gray wolves from the endangered species list.

So I can't say I'm surprised. In fact, I expected more of the same...

...which is why my team and I are already crafting an aggressive legal strategy to halt the administration's latest attack on the gray wolves

So far, our court victories have stopped wolf hunting in the northern Rockies, but only because we could afford to provide the legal services that the wolves -- and many environmental groups -- depend on.

Stripping the wolves of their federal protections would reinstate wolf hunts in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. We need your help to make sure that doesn't happen.

We cannot draw on the same massive resources that the Bush administration has. We're outnumbered, but we've been here before and we've won because of folks like you -- and the smart application of the law that your support makes possible.

I cannot wait for the dark era of the Bush Administration to finally be over with. -MD

    From Defenders of Wildlife

This week, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's Board of Game wants to target more wolf mothers and pups for slaughter.

Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program has already claimed the lives of more than 800 wolves
-- with another season of slaughter about to begin. In June, Palin's state officials drew widespread condemnation for  slaughtering 14 wolf pups -each just weeks old- with a shot to the head.

Ignoring the public outcry from the killings, members of the state’s Board of Game -- many hand-picked by Palin -- have decided to continue the killing of wolf pups and mothers by state officials.

It’s all part of the state’s brutal wolf-killing program, and we need your help this Holiday Season to stop it.

    Republican's are sore losers!

Joe C[-] wrote on Nov 7, 2008 3:48 PM:I am a small business owner. The day after the election I laid off 10 of my 38 workers. I know what is coming. They have only Obama to thank for losing their jobs. I told them the day before the election this would happen if Obama won and why I would have to cut costs. These jobs paid $18.50 per hour. Now I wonder if they would like their votes back.

I'd sue this guy right out of his small business for wrongful termination!

Comment made by my (altho young) co-worker
I wouldn't vote for Obama because I don't want to be responsible for his assassination. And the White House is called White House for a reason.

It sounds suspiciously racist. I did not overhear the comment or otherwise I would have asked her to clarify what she said.

    I'm crying again!
No, not because Senator Obama will become President Obama. That was yesterday.   Today I found out that Prop 2 in CA passed. I'm sure the animal-Nazi's will sue + drag this thru court trying to get Prop 2 struck down.  Changes don't have to be implemented until 2015, but after that, more than 20 million farm animals should get more room in there tiny cages, so that they at least will be able to lay down, turn around + stretch their wings or limb.

Unfortunately Prop 8 (gay marriages) is still too close to call.  WTF? This thing should be defeated by a landslide. Hate legislation, that's all what it is.   Michael said that even if Prop 8 should pass, it will (must) be struck down by the courts as unconstitutional. I hope + "pray."

South Dakota "abortion" legislation was also struck down, which is a good thing. If passed, it would even have outlawed certain types of birth control.

I've heard that Colorado also rejected Prop. 48(?), the defining of a person. Also a good thing.

Well, I better wrap it up now. I have to get ready for work. Thankfully I was able to take the first 3 hrs. off today so I could watch the election.  I have no idea what I can do again with all my free time that I used to spend in front of the TV or reading articles or discussing politics online.

    Politics
I have to admit that I have never followed an election with that much interest + maybe that's why I'm surprised by all this negativity. McCain + his yap-dog Palin. Joe-the-plumber is pathetic + continues to ride the hopeful gravy-train. Dole smearing Hagan with her god-less advertisement (in NC) + Hagan sueing her. Al Franken (Minnesota) is being sued by Coleman + vs. versa. The mud slinging has been somewhat depressing, but to see Obama rallies on positive notes, where Obama told the crowd that booing is not necessary, "we don't need that. Instead, go out and vote!" It is refreshing.

The race is tightening, which is expected, but still unsettling. I hope Obama is not spreading himself too thin in taking on McCain states. Maybe Obama hasn't played Risk. As a German, I could draw a parallel here, but I rather not because I don't want anyone to misunderstand. Just think Eddie Izzard :D

I hope that the cautioned voices are just that. Cautioned + that Nov. 5th will prove that this country is ready for a change for the better. It can't come soon enough.

Queers United: Vote YES on Prop 2 California!
    http://queersunited.blogspot.com/2008/10/vote-yes-on-prop-2-california.html

For a kinder world for queers + factory farmed animals.

(CA Prop. 2 would outlaw tiny battery cages, veal crates + gestation crates so that chickens, calves + pigs will have enough room to turn around, spread their wing or limb. I'm so glad to see that two groups join together to help the injustices that are done to them.

No on Prop.8 would allow gay people to get married/remain married. Homophobes + "good" Christians once again brought this hateful Proposition (8) up for CA voters to decide. May their callousness in rejecting gay ppl the same rights reserve them a nice toasty spot in HELL!

    YES on Prop. 2
    NO on Prop. 8

The HSUS has of course endorsed Senator Obama for president. Joe Biden, the VP candidate has a very good, animal-friendly track record .......(just the opposite of the aerial hunting, moose-killing, fur wearing, wants to sue the Bush Administration for planning to put the polar bear + beluga whales on the endangered species list - Palin.
